AI Max
What Adintel reads about AI Max on your Search campaigns, when its traffic makes your briefing or the audit, and the switches you can turn off from Adintel.
What does Adintel read about AI Max?
On each Search campaign: whether AI Max is on, and its two features, final URL expansion and text customization; which search terms AI Max matched, keywordless or by broad match expansion, as Google reports each term's source; the landing pages AI Max chose; and the day Google moved a campaign to AI Max on its own. Source on Triage and on the search terms page's Search & Shopping tab narrows to the terms AI Max matched, and each of those carries an AI Max badge wherever it appears.
When does AI Max make my briefing?
When, over the last 30 days, a campaign's AI Max traffic has spent the account's cost per conversion on competitor terms, or has spent twice the account's cost per conversion and has no conversion, costs at least 1.5 times as much per conversion as the campaign's keyword traffic, or returns two thirds of the keyword traffic's ROAS or less. The item opens the AI Max terms in triage and carries the campaign's AI Max switches, and an AI Max item is held back for 7 days before it can return (how the briefing chooses).
What does the audit check?
Each night, over 90 days:
- Which Search campaigns run AI Max, and which of its features are on, paused campaigns included, since they serve with it the day they are enabled.
- A campaign whose AI Max traffic converts far worse than its keyword traffic, or not at all, by the briefing's rule.
- AI Max traffic spending at least the account's cost per conversion on searches naming a competitor.
- Pages AI Max chose that are none of the ad group's own, spending twice the account's cost per conversion with no conversion.
Once AI Max is off on a campaign, its last three findings stop for that campaign; the audit's fix turns AI Max settings off (the audit).
What can I change from Adintel?
On a Search campaign where AI Max is on, the campaign's controls carry Turn AI Max off and a button for each of its features that is on, on the Overview and on a briefing item. Each goes through the confirm that checks the change with Google first (changes you make from Adintel). There is no switch to turn AI Max on from Adintel: that is done in Google Ads, and Undo only puts back what a change from Adintel turned off. Where Google holds an automation setting Adintel cannot read yet, a switch that would send the campaign's settings is refused and says so (overview). Where Google can make more on the Recommendations page lists a serving Search campaign whose only switches on are AI Max's, with Turn off in Adintel.
Where else does AI Max show?
On the Timeline, an AI Max switch keeps its own line with its old and new values (timeline). The client report names the campaigns Google moved to AI Max in the period, and the switches that let Google do more on its own (the client report).
